Product

What i have understand from this 3rd lecture is that product must contains all the following elements:

  • form-space
  • nodes-paths
  • illusion

And all the elements are related with each other and it start with a form. A form must contains all the following attributes:

SPACE has a relationship with a NODE-PATH..



A node-path will combine with each other and will produce a SPACE. As example, we can see from the picture below:


Node is combine with a path and it produce a SPACE..



From the lecture, I also understand that product also can be a illusion..


Illusion is defined as a perception, as of visual stimuli (optical illusion), that represents what is perceived in a way different from the way it is in reality

SITE-SCALE

To be very honest actually in the second lecture i dont really get what my lecturer had tought us..The only thing that i know is there are 7 scales that we need to know and understand which is..

  1. Object
  2. Interior
  3. Building
  4. Premise
  5. Urban
  6. Region
  7. Global

OBJECT

-anything that is visible or tangible and is relatively stable in form

INTERIOR

-being within; inside of anything; internal; inner; further toward a center

BUILDING

-a relatively permanent enclosed construction over a plot of land, having a roof and usually windows and often more than one level, used for any of a wide variety of activities, as living, entertaining, or manufacturing

PREMISE

-a building together with its grounds or other appurtenances

URBAN

-of, pertaining to, or designating a city or town

REGION

-a district without respect to boundaries or extent, an administrative division of a city or territory

GLOBAL

-pertaining to the whole world; worldwide; universal, involving the entire earth; worldwide.

PRODUCTION OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT PEOPLE & PROCESS

Building industry plays important role in contributing services and housing. The condition of our built environment affects performance of different sector.


BUILDING INDUSTRY

THE PROFILE is unique and flexible
The relationship in each project is a new undetailing with temporary of diverse group of local actors.
Low level of capital investment whule labour investment is high.

ACTOR
  • The people in the building industry.
  • Owner of a land or building.
  • Professional such as designers and consultant (we are).
  • Goverments agencies and local authorities.
  • Contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Suppliers
  • Lending and insurans intitutionals
  • End users
  • Indirect participants.

OWNER

There are 2 types of owner :

  1. Public Owner- such as Federal goverment
  2. Private Owner- major contributors in Malaysia building industry implementing project in house, commercial, tourism etc.

OBJECTIVES OF OWNERS

Time-very important thing in construction industry because every second is about money. Early project completion is of high priority. They also do not accept excuses.

Cost- to ensure low development cost

Quality- to achive value for money

ROLE OF OWNER

Decide the best approch of development to reach the objectives of the organization. They also obtain a continuousand sufficient financial source to carry out and complete the development. Thus, they also monitoring the overall development process to ensure quality product to capture positive and high market demand.

DESIGNERS

The person who design the building or surrounding such as interior design who is concern on the design of the internal space and emphasizing the interection between.

CONSULTANTS

Provide specialized knowledge skills and services to supplement those designers such as structural and civil engineers, quantity surveyor, or land surveyor.

OBJECTIVES

To ensure and safeguard the public health, welfare and safety.futhermore they functional as administer building codes that established minimum standards for development and construction based on

  • Uniform Building By Laws (UBBL) 1984
  • Urban and Regional Planning Act 1974

Approval are to be obtain from the local authorities before and after cimmencement of work at stage of the development process

  • sub-division approval
  • planning approval
  • building approval
  • start work permit
  • final inspection
  • cetificates of fitness-CFO
  • certificates of completion compliance (CCC)

CONTRACTORS

Main contractorss- individual or organization who undertakes to carry out the complete development or construction works according to the specifications documented in the tender and contract documents.

Personnel and Site Workers

  • site manager
  • clerk of work
  • skilled worker
  • semi-skilled worker
  • construction workers

All the contractors are responsible to register with CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia)

USERS

Owner or End users

  • privacy

CONCLUSION

Building industry is unique, massive, and complex. They involve wide knowledge on the market, demand and supply and property intake.

Element of Production consist of :

  1. Intention (Niat)
  2. Act (Laku)
  3. Actor (Pelaku)
  4. Rule (Aturan)
  5. Site (Tapak)
  6. Product (Hasil)

INTENTION

Intention always accompanied with knowledge which we gain by listening, seeing and use our heart and mind to understand, use our head to think which are going to produce a product of certain act.

ACT

The act which are going to do individually or in a group.

ACTOR

A person who is going to do the act which maybe an individual or an institutional.

RULE

A regulation, a believe, custom, man-made or natural. An ideology or isme which decide where is right or wrong by individual perception towards something. There are variety of isme that we can explore.

Such as :

  • Alturism- not right or not wrong
  • Cynicism- all things are wrong
  • Relativism- all things are right
  • Taoisme- throw away lies, the thruth will showed up
  • Truth-seekerisme -must find the truth

SITE

A real site which can be a land, floor, table, paper. the place that we are going to produce or do something on it.

PRODUCT

The thing that accomplished by an actor who have intention to do it which is something that physical, mental or spiritual.
